ARP 2500

ARP's 2500 was their first big synthesizer when they were new to the scene back in 1970.The ARP 2500 was meant to compete with Moog's first modular synths, which, at the time, were the top dogs. It's a huge modular synth that can be used to learn and teach with, or be used in the studio. ARP's 2500 has enough flexibility that you can make tons of amazing sounds by using its filters and other parameters it comes with that are extremely tweakable.

The 2500 also camme with a 61 note keyboard and had Studio Wing Exansion Cabinets. It was popularly known for its stable tuning at the time, when most synthesizers could barely claim anything like that. It wasn't long before ARP came out with their new module: The ARP 2600, which had far superior music making capabilities. The ARP 2500 is a rarity as only around one hundred of them were made.

It has been used by Meat Beat Manifesto, Pete Townshend, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Jimmy Edgar, Vince Clarke, filmcomposer Jerry Goldsmith on 'Logan's Run', and communicating with the aliens in Speilberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
