The Teenage Engineering OP-1 is a portable Synthesizer, Sampler and Controller, all in one unit. It has additional features like FM Radio and G-Force sensor to use for pitch and bend effects. It is a new and creative approach to sequencing and offers multiple choices of sequencers, The OP-1’s built-in Tape feature is something new and a great feature for everyone interested in making cool sounds and their own music. You can easily connect the Teenage Engineering OP-1 to your computer and control your DAW with the common play, stop, rec, forward and rewind functionality. There are 4 rotary encoders and 8 x 2 dedicated quick keys to use for fast selections. They work very well with your software synthesizers. AIl is all portable and you can easily have the OP-1 in your bag with your computer. Your portable studio. When you plug it in to the mini USB port the OP-1 shows up on your screen as a typical mass storage unit. Just drag and drop audio files from your computer to the OP-1 or from the OP-1 to your computer. 4 tape tracks are available and also sampled waveforms that you can manipulate to get them just the way you like them. The OP-1 doesn't require any additional software or drivers. The OP-1 has 8 different synthesizer engines, and with these synthesizer features the OP-1 can create great, unique sounds. It offers FM, physical modeled strings with a twist, Cluster, DRW, Pulse plus a lot more features. You can swap all these synthesizer engines, so basically you can have 8 FMs as your preferred sound presets if thats your choice. Numeric input on the OP-1 is keept at a minimum.It has a color coded interface that is easy to understand. Saving is really easy. Everything is always where you left it the last time you used the OP-1, even after you have turned the power off. Sampling should be fun and also quick and easy to perform. Therefore the OP-1 sampler is made to be simple and inspiring for the user. It has a built in microphone or line-in jack so you can sample sound or voice directly. Recorded sounds are automatically mapped across the keys. It is easy to tweak it later, just press a key on the OP-1 musical keyboard, then you can manually fine tune in and out points. Pitch i also easily adjustable on the OP-1 and you can choose between different play modes.The OP-1 is yet to be released. Release is planned for late 2010 or early 2011. The OP-1 has been showed at the NAMM show in Anaheim and at Musikmesse in Frankfurt and the hype around this portable synthesizer is heavy. The all in one concept and almost "pocket size" makes the OP-1 unique and makes a lot of synth nerds around the world crave for it.
