Youtube Sample King - Kutiman

This is Kutiman and his awesome YouTube sampling projec Thru You. My mate Tex Hurricane sent me these videos and wow, really impressive stuff! This has just totally blown my mind. Kutimans real name is Ophir Kutiel, he is a musician from Israel, and he has basically resampled a huge bunch of YouTube videos and made new songs of them. It's obvious Kutiman knows his ways, the result is quality all over. You can also tell that Kutiman likes the electro gear. Lots of synthesizer demos used, you can even spot the rare Yamaha GX-1 in the song "Someday".

In an Internet radio interview from June 2009, Kutiman described how the idea of Thru You first came to him:

At first I took some drummers - before I had the idea about ThruYou I took some drummers from YouTube and I played on top of them - just for fun, you know. And then one day, just before I plugged my guitar to play on top of the drummer from YouTube, I thought to myself, you know - maybe I can find a bass and guitar and other players on YouTube to play with this drummer

Working on the Thru You project took two months, and Kutiman described it as quite intense:

It took me two months, but it was really intense. I barely eat, I just worked on a computer and went to sleep...day and night, and night and day...didn't see any friends, no family...not even the sun.

The samplevideos has been around for a while and you might have seen them before. If you haven't dont miss out. All the amazing Kutiman video samplings from his album Thru You are posted here. The last clip is Kutiman himself describing his work with the youtube samplings.

Latest Iamamiwhoami - Adrian Lux remixes "O"

Another Iamamiwhoami remix is released. This time the mysterious youtube sensation is remixed by Adrian Lux and the song is "O". A few weeks ago Iamamiwhoami was remixed by Tara Busch and it seems we will get new releases of Iamamiwhoami songs every 2-3 weeks followed by a remix a couple of weeks after. So there's probably a new Iamamiwhoami video our pretty soon. In the meantime, listen to Adrian Lux's remix of "O" here. Great work!

The Iamamiwhoami viral campaign sparks to life once again. After being completely quite the last 3 weeks or so Iamamiwhoami released a song today. It's called "O" and you can listen to it on Amazon or the Iamamiwhoami facebook. It seems to be the full track of the song used in the 5th Iamamiwhoamiclip -

Further to this, on thursday the 8th of april Tara Busch released her remix of Iamamiwhoami after she was sent material for a remix and instructions about when to release it. Check out the Tara Buschs Iamamiwhoami remix.

The mystery and debate on who is Iamamiwhoami keeps going on. To me its all obvious since the latest Iamamiwhami video "B". Expect more action soon.

Alan Braxe sequencing with E-mu SP-1200

This is a great interview with french house legend Alan Braxe. Alan Braxe is great remixer and one of those rare talents that seem to be able to squeeze something out of whatever they get thrown at them. In the clip he shows us the E-mu SP-1200 which seems to be the love of his life.

Check this out. alan Braxe takes on Beyonce.

After all that french-english I think we need a proper all american demo of the E-mu Sp-1200.

Mighty Mouse remixes Bent

Mighty Mouse!

Bent has always been kind of the perfect band for me, with a unique sound and songs so well produced and full of emotion that they make you drool. Mentally!

So it's always nice to hear remixes of Bent songs, this time from Mighty Mouse. Of course, they do not top the original, but they too have a unique sound that blends well with that of Bent. Here is their remix of Swollen, check out their Myspace for a remix of Always, and some more songs!

Wu Tang Vs. The Beatles - by Tom Caruana

British producer/DJ Tom Caruana, of independent label Tea Sea Records, has made this album called - Enter the magical mystery chambers. I have to say, this guy is a hell of a remixer. He has used Wu Tang acapellas over bets he has made out of samples from Beatles songs. You see stuff like this pop up now and then without really getting impressed, but this really kicks ass! It's all available to download for free aswell. Check the link at the bottom of the post.

This is the intro + some of the remixes.

I Have Synth

Biography:

Been into synthesizers for 15 years, but never a technical geek. I'm a member of the band Velours Perfect, and have had electronic music as a hobby since I stopped playing with G.I Joe Figures. I buy and sell synths all the time, sometimes manically, and my favourite synth varies, right now it is the Alesis Ion. On this blog you can read about whatever comes out of my mind, mostly synthesizer-related stuff though. Bzzt!

I'm also on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and off course Ihavesynth.
