Iamamiwhoami continues with "n" - Creepy swedish forrest

Iamamiwhoami has just released a new video called "n" on youtube. This time the mysterious girl (Jonna Lee, soo obvious..) is lying in a sallad singing a beutiful song. There's a strange paper house in the forrest with a wooden computer and a strange little boy filming with a scary smile using a wooden camera. A cool looking man also appears wearing a smart coat made of transparent bottles.

We also get to see some of the old stuff back this time. One of the labradors is there and Jonna Lee has again painted her face black when she runs around in the creepy swedish forrest like a "Huldra Mandragora".  I cant beleive some people still doubt it's Jonna Lee!

Iamamiwhoami pushing tempo up

It seems our dear friend Iamamiwhoami is pushing the tempo up. Now she released another video called U-2. It's similar to the last one. Again its a fortress made of paper boxes and a guy sitting inside wearing just his underwear. He is holding a scary doll looking like Iamamiwhoami in his lap. Smart thing making videos without Jonna Lee in it. Might get the speculation going again. Good on ya guys!

Really cool underwear, or what do you think Jonna?

New Iamamiwhoami video U-1 released

A new Iamamiwhoami video was released on youtube a few hours ago. It seems like we are in a loop with a new video coming every two or three weeks. And a remix of that track released 2 weeks after.

This latest video is called U-1 and the forrest it takes place in looks very swedish to me. Iamamiwhoami herself is made into some kind of puppet. But The guy in the photo above looks very much like one of the musicians around Jonna Lee. Big reveal should be close, but we've said that before haven't we? C'mon Jonn,,,a hm,m I mean Iamamiwhoami, speed things up a bit please..

Here's the latest Iamamiwhoami clip called U-1

Its clear that the Mandrake theme continues:

"The making of mandrake puppets is described by several Elizabethan and Jacobean writers; the bryony roots were trimmed to look as human as possible, and given hair and a beard by pricking small holes into them and inserting sprouting millet or barley seeds. The craft was still practised in East Anglia early in the ... See More20th century, but partly in fun; countrymen would display ‘female’ mandrakes in the pub, and the most realistically carved would win a prize—after which the figures would be hung in a sow's sty to make her prolific, or put among money under the mattress (Porter, 1969: 46-7). In London street-markets in the 1920s the mannikins were sold to be fixed to the bedhead ‘for good luck’" (Lovett, 1925: 74).

New Iamamiwhoami video O is here

Yesterday the new Iamamiwhoami song O was released. Today Iamamiwhoami also released the video for it. Beautiful as always and she outs herself more and more. This time she seems to break out of some sort of cocoon wearing a cone around here neck similar to what dogs cathing fleas has to wear. OK, so the Iamamiwhoami momentum gets going once again. Will things speed up now and is Iamamiwhoami to be revealed soon?

Hello there Jonna....

Iamamiwhoami releases song O

The Iamamiwhoami viral campaign sparks to life once again. After being completely quite the last 3 weeks or so Iamamiwhoami released a song today. It's called "O" and you can listen to it on Amazon or the Iamamiwhoami facebook. It seems to be the full track of the song used in the 5th Iamamiwhoamiclip -

23.5.12.3.15.13.5-8.15.13.5.3383

Further to this, on thursday the 8th of april Tara Busch released her remix of Iamamiwhoami after she was sent material for a remix and instructions about when to release it. Check out the Tara Buschs Iamamiwhoami remix.

The mystery and debate on who is Iamamiwhoami keeps going on. To me its all obvious since the latest Iamamiwhami video "B". Expect more action soon.

Iamamiwhoami - Claes Björklund is in the clip

OK, everyone doesnt seem to go for the "Jonna Lee is Iamamiwhoami" news quite yet. I am 100% sure though. I think it looks like and sounds like Jonna Lee. Thats why I shouted out her name already last week. I must have been the first one really on to them. Kudos welcome :-)

A very strong evidence to why it probably is Jonna Lee, is the identity of one of the guys in the latest clip.

I cropped out his eyes from the latest clip, you see the image above. They belong to swedish musician/producer Claes Björklund. Claes has been working close with Jonna Lee for a long time, producing her latest albums. Here is his site.

This is another photo of him, performing with the band Travis. Looks like the picture from the clip, right?

Here is the latest clip again

All earlier clips can be found in this earlier post.

An interesting story about the Huldra / Mandragora / Mandrake that Iamamiwhoami clearly is can be found here.

IamamIwhoami is Jonna Lee

Hmm, I think I said it first? I have been pretty convinced that it is her for a while now, judging from her looks, the scandinavian looking environment, and the sound of her voice in the clips. I started off claiming it was her on my facebook and twitter last week. But I haven't been able to link the codes and stuff in the clips to her. I probably was not smart enough. Now I know its her though.

Well, it must be Jonna Lee. Don't you think. Check out the last clip. I will prove its her in a later post.

Awesome

A new Iamamiwhoami post with more information

Iamamiwhoami - Claes Bjorklund is in the clip

Closing in on IamamIwhoamI

The hunt for Iamamiwhami goes on. Last friday, James Montgomerie at MTV recieved something interesting. A brown envelope containg a blonde knot of human hair, some splinters of balsa wood and a single strip of paper with the animal symbols from the ongoing Iamamiwhoami viral clips. Read more about this in MTV Newsroom.  So it seems by looking at the paper strip, the trick is to add the symbols together and then you get the answer or the next clue.

GOAT + OWL + WHALE + BEE + LLAMA + MONKEY =  ?????

Some people have decoded the message to mean all will be revealed at 11am on Monday - "Go tell all will be 11am monday". Any riddle experts out there?

There are a lot of bloggers etc claiming this production must be made in scandinavia and that could mean its a scandiavian artist. The nature and snowy forrests, the red little cabin with white frames, the strawberry birthday cake. All of it looks very swedish. Further to this, the twitter account of iamamiwhoami (linked to the youtube channel) goes by the name of Huldra Mandragora, a creature from Scandinavian folklore. Scandinavian artists mentioned are so far Lykke Li, The Knife, Jonna Lee, Röyksopp, Margaret Berger, Bjork, Sigur Ros

In a previous post I said that this is definately not the thing Aphex Twin would do. I still don't beleive it's his return, though it would be interesting if it was because I am a big fan of his. David Ritter beleives it is Aphex Twin, he presents why in this post. Other names being mentioned are: Goldfrapp, Trent Reznor, Little Boots, Massive Attack, MGMT, The Golden Filter and Lady Gaga.

Still Christina Aguilera remains the hottest guess with some really good clues indicating she is the one. Album coming called Bionic, The number codes on the clips can be read out to "Its me C" and "CH AG". The Chritina Aguilera evidences are presented in this clip.Though I have to say, the music is good electronica and far from the Christina Aguilera we've seen. I also don't think the girl in the IamamIwhoami clips looks like Christian Aguilera. And wouldn't it be the smartest thing to try to make it look like it was Christian Aguilera if you are a smaller artist trying to make a hype? I think it might be a case of piggy back riding.

For all the Iamwhoami clips check out my previous post about it. Today it's exactly one week since the last Iamamiwhoami clip was released. Hopefully we get another clue or even the answer soon.

No way that Aphex Twin is behind the iamamiwhoami clips

I had an argument with a friend who thought that Aphex Twin was behind the iamamiwhoami clips. My point was that they aren't strange enough to have come from the mind of Aphex Twin (and Chris Cunningham). But he didn't agree - he thought that a blonde chick painted black who is being born from a tree, gets a strawberry cake and yells at Labrador retrievers IS strange enough.

But honestly, compared to the Come to Daddy, Windowlicker and Rubber Johnny videos, the iamamiwhoami clips are about as strange and freaky as the sock that goes missing every time you do the laundry.

Rubber Johnny - it gets really good at 4.25

Come to Daddy - an old favourite

Windowlicker - gets good after 3.45

All Iamamiwhoami clips - brilliant mystery

The great hype around the Iamamiwhoami continues. Yesterday a new clip was released, you find it at the bottom of the post and its the 6th clip all in all. If you are not yet familliar with what - Iamamiwhoami - is read this quoted text from MTV news to catch up.

"It started in December, when a 55-second clip that featured plenty of trees, spindly, spooky appendages, and one particularly grisly live birth (or at least we think it's a live birth). Then, in early January, there was a second clip ... a dendrophiliac's wet dream, loaded with images of a mud-smeared woman licking a tree and some strangely sexualized sap. And owls, plenty of owls. And then, on Sunday, a third, this one a slo-mo underwater dream sequence, with a whole lot of confection, a murky fetus and exactly one singing whale shark. Then there are the numbers that accompany the videos — mysterious sequences of digits that may be spelling out some coded message, or revealing a release date (or may just be numbers) — and the music, a soundtrack of chiming, slightly ominous electronic bloops and bleeps. Confused? Intrigued? Welcome to the club. It's the ongoing saga of "Iamamiwhoami," the latest in a series of maddeningly compelling viral campaigns to seize the attention of Internet obsessives. Named for the YouTube user who began uploading the clips, the campaign has slowly become a full-blown frenzy, and the speculation has begun to run rampant about just who is behind it all." (MTV)

The Iamamiwhoami mystery is brilliant, and brilliant in so many ways. In short:

*Yes, its brilliant marketing. These mystery teasers are spreading in a way that makes the swine flu virus look like a joke. So the hype is there for the release of the album. Because that is what this must be a promotion for isn't it?

*The music is great, the sounds are amazing. Nice electronica, qualitu work indeed. Considering all these superlatives its hard for me to think that the two artists getting most of the guesses, Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga, really can be the artists behind this stuff. The blonde girl in the clips might be a decoy though. Other names thrown around includes Lykke Li, Goldfrapp, Trent Reznor, MGMT, Madonna, Bjork and Aphex Twin. Christian Aguilera remains the top bet though. Especially when you see some work on the mysterious codes that comes with every clip.

Telling...

*The production and video is very high quality and ooozes high budget. Beautiful artistic videos all over.

All clips so far are gathered for you here below. Maf Lewis and Tara Busch has some great posts on this on one of my favourite blogs analogsuicide.com.

I'd love to hear you views on this. Who do you think is the artist behind these teaser clips and why do you think so?

Enjoy!

This post might be me making the perfect alibi and decoy...
