I love these synths!

This guy, organfairy, builds home-made synthesizers. And they look good! And I love the music, this made my weekend! That, and booze!

You're never lonely with three robots as a family

I blogged about this clip in April, but I have to put it up again, since Christmas is here in less than two months. Can't you feel the Christmas spirit in this one? Daddy plays the organ, and his three little robots beeps Silent Night. It's cute and creepy at the same time!

Homemade synthesizers by organfairy

I really like the groove!

"In this - my fourth - video with homemade synthesizers the rhytm is done on a little hand played drum synthesizer. The heavily phased keyboard is made out of the keyboards from an old Elka organ and the keyboard used for the melody is made out of a keyboard from a horrible CRB Eletronica organ."

17 amazing Steampunk synthesizer mods

Great game

Ever since I played the game The Chaos Engine on my Amiga 600, I've had a fondness for steampunk. I think its way cooler than the ordinary cyberpunk. Which makes me wonder if there are any cyberpunkers left, I haven't seen any in a good while, and the ones I saw then looked ridiculous.

That's why I was thrilled to see that Musicradar had a special on steampunk modded synthesizers. Everything from a Casio SK-1 to modded modular monsters. Check it out, and be blown away. By the steam. duh... bad joke.

Extremely strong guys and El Perro Del Mar

Swedish band El Perro Del Mar has made a very interesting video for their song "Change of heart" from the album "Love is not pop". Featuring the artists Sandor Vlah and Gyula Takaes a.k.a The Golden Power, probably the strongest guys I've ever seen. And I've seen some strong guys in my life!!!

Moog on BBC Tomorrow's World

The Youtuber Synthasy2000, a great source of synth clips, brings us this clip from the BBC Programme Tomorrow's World. It is a presentation of the Moog Modular. Enjoy!

CCCP Synths

I read a very interesting review about the Soviet synthesizer Formanta Polivoks here on Ihavesynth. The synths from the Soviet Union are not that well known, but they look great, and sound really special. If you like to read more about them, I can recommend the website Ruskeys, which lists a lot of different models. Check it out, and see what made Russia groovy in the age of Brezjnev and Gorbatjev. And Andropov?

Free softsynth Mothman 1966

Now you can get Justin Roberts soft synth Mothman 1966 for free!

"This new Mothman synth is a pretty simple little gem. But don't let it's simplicity fool you. It is a two oscillator, two LFO synth that uses standard subtractive synthesis.  What sets it apart is the three custom waveforms in the the two oscillators. One is a "diamond wave" which was created using FM synthesis and the waveform image resembles a diamond. Two is an 8 bit saw wave, its an awesome buzzy and gritty saw wave. Three is a woodwind wave, used to create cool sounding flutes and other wood instruments. The LFOs can be routed to either of the VCFs or VCAs. Some patches sound rather Juno 106 sounding. Over all it is gritty yet warm, and vintage sounding."

Download it on Justin Roberts website!

Korg Wavestation SR review

I reviewed my Korg Wavestation SR. 1U rackmount packed with lush pads and Vector Synthesis. Check it out here!

The 10 greatest synths of all time

Check out this very interesting article on Musicradar, that lists what they think are the 10 greatest synths of all time. Not many surprises on it though, I guess most of you can pretty much predict what synths are on the list (did I hear a MiniMoog?). But anyway, good reading.

I Have Synth

Biography:

Been into synthesizers for 15 years, but never a technical geek. I'm a member of the band Velours Perfect, and have had electronic music as a hobby since I stopped playing with G.I Joe Figures. I buy and sell synths all the time, sometimes manically, and my favourite synth varies, right now it is the Alesis Ion. On this blog you can read about whatever comes out of my mind, mostly synthesizer-related stuff though. Bzzt!

I'm also on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and off course Ihavesynth.
